ceramic, water, glaze
Influenced by the textures and materials of the desert landscape, I am interested in the strained and remarkable relationship between water and earth. The presence of water, or lack of, dictates life formed within the desert. Pools of water are collected into depressions formed over time, generating pockets of escape from the harsh environment, lined with ripples of reflection created by the pulsing movement of the life-giving substance. As a child, I would dig my hands into the red clay shores pulling up the dripping wet earth to watch the water reclaim the negative space.
